| Aryan I. Roest Memorial Scholarship |
|
The Aryan I. Roest Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Aryan who had a teaching career that spanned 40 years at Cal Poly’s Biological Sciences Department. He was instrumental in establishing a degree in ecology and systematic biology as well as a graduate program in biological sciences and the college’s vertebrate animal collection and natural history museum. This scholarship supports graduate students who are studying environmental and conservation biology and have contributed to the study of native species, environmental protection, and conservation. |

Mrs. Marjorie Hanks established this scholarship in memory of her husband, Charles, who was a mathematics professor at Cal Poly. The Charles J. Hanks Excellence in Mathematics Award recognizes a mathematics major who has demonstrated excellence and outstanding academic ability. |

The David H. Thomson Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of David who was the first biologist hired at Cal Poly in 1946, and taught until his retirement in 1987. The scholarship supports junior Biological Sciences majors who are entering secondary teaching at Cal Poly. |
| Diana Barnhart Excellence in Science Education Scholarship |

The Diana Barnhart Excellence in Science Education Scholarship supports an incoming freshman from Morro Bay High School majoring in science with a preference for a student with an interest in becoming a teacher. |

| Dwayne Head Scholarship |

The Dwayne Head Scholarship supports undergraduate students who are an officer in either the California Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance student club, the Exercise Science and Health Promotion student club, or a student involved in either of the above clubs who is either in the teaching or clinical and worksite health promotion concentration. |

The Katrina J. Killgore Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Katrina who died from a brain hemorrhage at the age of 21 in February 1987 when she was a junior Mathematics major at Cal Poly. While at Cal Poly, Katrina was a member of the Newman Club, Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, and the Ski Club. The scholarship supports undergraduate mathematics majors who show scholastic achievements. |

| Ralph E. Weston, Sr. Memorial Award |
|
The Ralph E. Weston, Sr. Memorial Award was established in memory of Ralph who was a Math and Computer Science professor from 1948 to 1967. He was additionally responsible for the development and advancement of those two departments. The award supports students majoring in Mathematics who receive fist and second place in the annual William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition. |

The Ralph M. Warten Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Ralph who taught in the Mathematic Department from 1968 until his death in 1988. The scholarship supports upper-division students majoring in the School of Science and Mathematics. |

| Robert E. Holmquist Memorial Scholarship |

The Robert E. Holmquist Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Robert who was a member of the Cal Poly faculty from 1946 to 1971. The scholarship supports junior and senior physics majors. |
| Robert Mott Memorial Scholarship |
|
The Robert Mott Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Robert who was Cal Poly’s basketball coach and the school’s first baseball coach. He helped establish the Physical Education Department (Cal Poly didn’t have a PE Department at this time) and served as its head for the next 31 years. In the fall of 1987 Mott was inducted into Cal Poly’s Inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame and Distinction in recognition of his outstanding service as a teacher, coach, mentor, and leader. The scholarship supports senior and credential kinesiology majors with an interest in teaching or coaching in California schools after graduation. |
