The scholarship recognizes students who have experienced personal hardship and overcome adversity. |

The Edling Family Scholarship was established to assist Cal Poly in attracting and retaining outstanding students to the University. The Edling Family Scholarship is open to students throughout the University and may be renewed if recipient maintains full-time enrollment and completes at least 36 units each year towards their degree. |

Glenn H. Robinson Memorial Scholarship |

The Glenn H. Robinson Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Glenn who passed away on January 3, 2002 at the age of 92. Glenn served in the Army-Air Corp of the United States from 1943 to 1946. During his service in World War II, Glen flew a Curtiss C-46 Commando over the dangerous “hump” over the Himalayas between India and China. After an honorable discharge, the Robinsons moved to Southern California where Glenn was involved in Real Estate Development. This scholarship supports first time freshmen or transfer students from Allan Hancock College or Cuesta College who are from Santa Barbara or San Luis Obispo counties. |

The Ian McMillan Memorial Scholarship in Environmental Activism was established in memory of Ian who passed away of congestive heart failure in 1991 at the age of 85. Throughout his lifetime, he was an advocate for land conservation and native protection. The scholarship supports upper division students who have demonstrated their concern for Earth through some recognizable form of environmental or political activism while at Cal Poly. |

The J.W. Van Dyke Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of J.W. who passed away September 13, 1939. The scholarship gives preference to supporting undergraduates of active, retired, or deceased BP employees with ten or more years of company service. The trustees may, however, from time to time chose another qualified candidate who shows good academic records and character. |

Rita graduated from Cal Poly in 1971 with a degree in SOCS and was actively involved in the Cal Poly Alumni Association, serving as the Regional vice President for the Central Valley chapter. The Scholarship supports freshman students from Kings and Tulare Counties. |
