Cal Poly Scholars

The Cal Poly Scholars program aims to remove barriers for students from low-income backgrounds who are Cal Poly-ready. The program provides financial assistance and access to our unique Learn by Doing education for high-achieving, underrepresented students from California schools who have earned acceptance into our university.

Cal Poly Scholars live together in an interdisciplinary student community, creating one of the most culturally diverse living-learning experiences on campus. The program provides an annual scholarship, a two-year living-learning community for incoming freshmen, workshops and advising to support student development and retention, and credit towards a personal technology package. Deserving students benefit when they are allowed to focus and thrive academically, and Cal Poly benefits when our campus includes those of diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Each year, the program continues to grow and succeed, with 191 degrees awarded to Scholars to date, and 790 Scholars enrolled as of fall 2020. Additionally, 95% of Scholar respondents had a job or fellowship within nine months of graduating, primarily in California.

Please consider making a gift to the Cal Poly Scholars program that will help provide more well-deserving students with the tools, resources and opportunities to succeed and thrive at Cal Poly and beyond.
